Rancho Santa Fe Real Estate
Rancho Santa Fe has a rich history and was established in 1928 as a country residential community with an emphasis on agriculture and preserving the rural landscapes.
While the area is commonly referred to as the Covenant, the term refers to an agreement among property owners to preserve and maintain the character of the community and its landscape, and to uphold the quality of future architecture. The agreement came to be known simply as “The Covenant” and now refers not only to the principal governing document, but also to the community itself in the 92067 zip code.
Today, the Covenant of Rancho Santa Fe encompasses roughly 10 square miles or 6,730 acres and is home to elite, luxury real estate. Near the center of the Covenant is the Village of Rancho Santa Fe, with shops, restaurants, other commercial businesses, and the historic Rancho Santa Fe Inn.
Most of the Covenant is beautiful rolling topography with spacious low-density, large-lot residential developments where the average lot size is more than two acres. Looping through the pristine countryside and alongside the golf course, a private equestrian and hiking trail network runs throughout the community. The exclusive, secure, rural character of the community, combined with its proximity to the ocean, are what set the Covenant apart as being one of the country’s most highly desirable places to live.
Rancho Santa Fe is home to some of the world’s most prestigious public and private golf courses and country clubs, including the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club, Morgan Run Resort and Club, Fairbanks Ranch Country Club, The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe, and The Farms Golf Club.
Fine and casual dining choices abound and include Mille Fleurs, Veladora, Thyme in the Ranch, Morado, Dolce Pan E Vino, The Pony Room, Rancho Santa Fe Bistro, Caffe Positano, 067 Bistro, Ranch Deli, and Café Azul.
The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe is located on 21 acres of landscaped grounds including flowering gardens, lush lawns, and winding pathways between cottages of beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites. The Inn offers warm personal attention in an atmosphere of charm and tranquility unique among San Diego luxury hotels.
The Rancho Santa Fe School District boasts the R. Roger Rowe School for elementary and middle school students. It serves about 700 students and is located in the heart of the Covenant of Rancho Santa Fe. The state-of-the-art campus features a performing arts center, classroom labs, and a computer for each child.
Torrey Pines High School is the public high school for students from the Covenant of Rancho Santa Fe and other adjacent communities. Torrey Pines High is a part of the highly-ranked San Dieguito Union High School District. Students may attend their boundary high school of Torrey Pines, and are also eligible to attend one of two schools of choice in the district – Canyon Crest Academy in Carmel Valley or San Dieguito Academy in Encinitas.
There are several other private schools in the area including La Jolla Country Day School, Bishops School, Horizon Prep, Francis Parker, Cathedral Catholic High School, The Grauer School, and Francis Parker.
