Education is a high priority in La Jolla with the University of California, San Diego being the highlight of the education system. La Jolla has numerous award-winning public and prestigious private schools.


Public Schools

There are 3 public elementary schools in La Jolla: Bird Rock, La Jolla, and Torrey Pines. The boundaries are predominantly based on where you reside. All three schools are much loved by those who attend, and involvement in the PTA is huge. Muirlands Middle School is a highly rated, public institution and has 1,090 students with about 22 students per teacher. La Jolla High School is known for its sports teams and high academic ranking with 1600 students.


Private & Niche Schools

The private schools are a large draw in this city, whether its kindergartners diving into the world or high school students gearing up for higher education through college prep, SATs, AP classes and more. Some of these schools aren’t simply elementary or middle school; instead, they include multiple grades, which is ideal for people with children of various ages.
 
The Bishop’s School: Middle School through High School (6th-12th)
 
This elite, highly regarded school is an independent institution designed for college-prep education. As an affiliate of the Episcopalian church, Bishop’s has been in La Jolla since 1909.
